THE CONSCIOUS FACE SERUMS BY BIOVÈVE, FINAL ROUND.

Thursday, December 8, 2022

It has been a while since I wrote my first post related to this line, from Biovène, a cruelty-free skincare brand from Barcelona (Cataluña), whose products are made with natural and organic ingredients, a fact that first caught my attention. Will they work? The concept and the ingredient list look amazing! Should I give them a try? That's how started!

From the packaging to the product itself, there is no waste. The main concept of this brand is to create a vegan skincare line based on green and clean beauty. But what surprised me the most was that every single serum was made with organic, natural, and functional ingredients, by the way, related to the packaging, from the glass containers that contain the product to the cardboard that protects them, they are made of recyclable products.

But, instead of all of the amazing aspects of this skincare line, what about the products themselves? I had tried 6/8 face serum: Revitalizing serum with Matrixyl 3.000 10%, Moisturizing Serum with Hyaluronic Acid 10%, Anti-imperfections serum with Salicylic Acid 2%, Night serum with Glycolic Acid 10%, Age defying serum with 10% vitamin C, and Renewal serum with Lactic Acid 5%.

THE LIFTING SERUM & THE SPOT SERUM.

  • The Lifting Serum.

Is a very rich and moisturizing face serum, that without being oily, gives intense hydration to the skin. I have a sensitive combination to oily skin type, and using it in the morning in combination with The Spot Serum (at night), my skin was more balanced and plumper.

The main ingredients are Matrixyl 3.000 and Organic Green Tea. The first one is a synthetic peptide that stimulates collagen production, helping to restructure damaged skin. Is composed of two matrilines (oligopeptides, and protein fragments), PAL - GHK and PAL - GQPR, whose main properties are to restore collagen and elastin, giving the skin a more youthful appearance. On the other side, Organic Green Tea is a type of tea made from Camellia Sinensis, with anti-inflammatory properties, that help to calm irritation, skin redness, and swelling.

The combination of these two ingredients made my morning easier, and I really fell in love with this face serum.

  • The Spot Serum.

Expecting it to have a runny texture, surprised me with a dense and fast-absorbing texture. In contrast with other salicylic acid face serums, this one was more moisturizing, and the best part is that fact that some of the main ingredients are very noticeable: salicylic acid (2%), organic coconut oil, niacinamide, tea tree, cinnamon, ginger, and chamomile.

By the way, I never ever in my life expected to use a face serum with these ingredients combinations, since it sounds like a very irritating formula, but not, and it really helps to improve skin imperfections like dark spots, and pimples, smoothing the skin’s surface progressively, unifying it at the same time.

  • Salicylic acid: dissolves dead skin cells, unclogs pores, reduces sebum secretion, treats comedones and pimples, and fights acne bacteria.

  • Organic coconut oil: reduces inflammation, is antimicrobial (helps to treat acne bacteria), helps with wound healing, and moisturizes the skin.

  • Niacinamide: sebum control, pore-minimizing, treats hyperpigmentation, calms the skin, anti-aging, helps to restore the lipid barrier.

  • Tea tree oil: anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, antiseptic, wound healer, and helps to regulate sebum production.

  • Cinnamon: calms acne, helps to moisturize the skin, anti-aging, antiseptic, and anti-blemish.

  • Ginger: fades scars, is anti-aging, and purifies the skin.

  • Chamomile: fights free radical damage, and moisturizes the skin.

THE SUPER SERUM & THE GLOW SERUM.

  • The Super Serum.

Used to The Lifting Serum, this one was like a more light version of it, that provides enough moisture to confront the day, not too light but not too heavy, with a fast absorbing formula. I like it, but my skin was more in love with the green tea and the Matrixyl 3.000 face serum.

The main ingredients are Hyaluronic Acid, and Aloe Vera, well known for their moisturizing, and anti-inflammatory properties, but I have to confess that this time, even if I think that is a good serum, I couldn’t feel the Aloe Vera in the formula, maybe is because I used to the Holika-Holika Aloe Vera gel.

  • The Glow Serum.

It was the only one with a very runny formula and at the same time one of the most effective along with the Spot Serum. It really helps to renovate the skin day by day, removing all the dead skin cells. At first, it may be a bit itchy, but as time goes by, that itchiness goes away. The main ingredients are niacinamide, aloe vera, and organic raspberry. The raspberry is very noticeable at first, but it didn’t bother me, since the smell disappears after a few seconds.

On the other hand, even if at first it can be a bit itchy, the product itself is not irritating. I personally think that it is perfect for people that want to fight first-age sings like fine lines, or for people with textured skin or uneven skin tone.

Niacinamide: improves skin hydration, calming, anti-inflammatory, and pore-minimizing.

Aloe Vera: soothing, calming, moisturizing, anti-blemishes, anti-inflammatory, and anti-aging.

Glycolic Acid: anti-aging, anti-blemishes, evens the skin, and renovates the skin.

Raspberry: protects the skin from environment and stress, and regulates sebum production.

THE RENEWAL SERUM & THE RADIANCE SERUM.

  • The Renewal Serum.

Is one of the softest ways to fight age signs and skin imperfections, perfect for very sensitive skin types. It has a moisturizing formula that renews the skin, at the same time that helps the skin to renovate itself.

In comparison with the Spot Serum, the Glow Serum is the mildest way to treat the skin effectively.

Lactic Acid: it helps to remove accumulated dead skin cells of the skin's top layer.

Niacinamide: improves skin hydration, calming, anti-inflammatory, and pore-minimizing.

Panthenol: calming, and moisturizing.

Arginine: boost collagen production.

Sodium Hyaluronate: moisturizing, reduce dryness and flaking.

Chamomile Recutita: helps to address acne, hyperpigmentation, and irritation (calming, anti-inflammatory, and whitening).

Camellia Sinensis: anti-oxidant, calming, reduce sebum production, improve skin texture and tone.

  • The Radiance Serum.

To me, this face serum wasn’t enough for my skin necessities. The ingredient list and main ingredient weren't bad, but I had tried better low-cost vitamin C face serums like the one by Revox. Maybe it will be a good product for someone who is starting to integrate in his skincare routine Vitamin C serum, but not for somebody who is used to using different types of skincare products, with varying ingredients, routines, and objectives.

Otherwise, I don’t know why, but
I’m not a fan of the formula, texture, and smell (it smells like burnt lemon/Lemon Coke). The best part is that it does not have an irritant formula. Related to the main ingredient, ascorbic acid (vitamin C) from organic lemon, is one of the best ingredients to combat aging signs, dark spots, and melasma; along with it, is a nice anti-inflammatory ingredient, that promotes collagen production.
