Nivea Creme: the iconic entire body and face moisturizer, since 1911.

Monday, February 6, 2023

I never thought that I will be writing about this iconic and classic moisturizer, but since I found out that Nivea improved the formula, plus the fact that everybody on the internet was claiming that it was almost the perfect “dupe” of the legendary La Mer face moisturizer, my curiosity increased a lot, so I ended up buying it again, after 20 years. I remember how my mother use to buy it when I was a child, for me, my brother, and cousins, and how I use to hate it for its density, and thickness, feeling like it will never be absorbed by my skin, so when people started to hype it on internet, I couldn’t believe it, but now, I know why: the formula has changed.

From its multiple uses (body moisturizer, face moisturizer, tattoo healing cream, etc.) and benefits (deep moisturizer, emollient, wound healing, treatment sealed, etc), to all the DIY YouTube videos that have Nivea Cream as a basic ingredient, this moisturizer has been in the dresser of many men and women, since it was launched in 1911. But… is it really that good?

The new Nivea Creme formula is more rich, watery, and easy to be absorbed by the skin, leaving a thin protective layer that seals and protects the skin from the environment, being perfect for very dry skin, as a night moisturizer, even as a primer for heavy and very matt makeup foundations (in small amounts). Moreover, for the body, I love to use it mixed with other products (natural oils, and natural essential oils), turning it into one of my basic ingredients to create my own body milk, that leaves my skin very moisturized, soft, and with an enchanting aroma.

I personally think that Nivea Creme is a really nice basic moisturizer that keeps the skin protected from external aggressions, moisturized, and glowy. It does not have amazing properties, or ingredients, but the formula, and with it the product itself works very nicely as an essential moisturizer, being more a perfect complement to a complete skincare routine, or even the perfect base to create a new product.

In comparison with some more specific actual face or body moisturizers, the concept is completely different, since they have been created to treat the skin in a specific way, having sometimes a larger ingredient list, with a state-of-the-art formula, giving, as a result, better results in a shorter period of time.

THE BEST LOW-COST MAKEUP POWDERS I HAVE TRIED THIS 2022.

Wednesday, November 30, 2022

When it comes to makeup, having a combination-oily skin can be a little bit tricky if you don't know which products your skin needs. From a correct skincare routine to the perfect makeup look that will stay with you all day long: everything matters. In my case, my skin type produces an excess of oil (sebum) in my T zone (forehead, nose, and chin), with normal to sometimes dry cheeks areas.

So, keeping that in mind, my needs are mainly focused on the sebum control production of my T zone, without caking it. By the way, I like very fine makeup powders that will not end giving me a cakey look at the end of the day, being the reason why I consider these three ones, the best low-cost makeup powder I had used this year.

Having used them for a while, they prove that we don’t need to break our bank accounts to look flawless, and have good quality products. They are perfect for setting makeup, baking, and controlling the sebum, lasting all day long.

HD STUDIO PHOTOGÉNIQUE STUDIO, by NYX.

With this makeup powder, I broke my taboo related to white-transparent face powders, made to be suitable for any skin color. Usually, this type of product cause flashbacks, and since I won’t know if I’m going to end up taking a flash photo at the end of the day, I tend to use makeup powders that suit my skin color.

Surprisingly, the HD Photogénique Studio sets my makeup without leaving any white cast, not producing any flashbacks.

PROS: smooth, poreless, no flashback, and good sebum control.

CONS: small size (only 6g).

BANANA DREAMS LOOSE POWDER, by W7.

Since I watched Makeup by Mario, doing Kim Kardashian makeup using yellow powder from Ben Nye, I knew that I will need to find an option here in Spain, so I took my time, I made my research, and I ended up finding the Banana Dreams Loose Powders by W7.

They are perfect to illuminate the center of the face, leaving a very smooth finish, but I particularly love them to set my under-eye area.

PROS: smooth, poreless, no flashback, strong sebum control, perfect for baking, and pore blurring.

CONS: none.

FACE FORM BAKING & SETTING POWDER, by SLEEK MAKEUP.

One of my latest discoveries and I love it! Here in Spain, it can be very hard to find a nice and low-cost setting powder for my skin color, but this one goes further having very good qualities like not having a red subtone (I have cold subtone: NW43), and being really translucent, lasting all the day without any problem.

PROS: good sebum control, not cakey finish, very fine powder.

CONS: none.
