Nivea Creme: the iconic entire body and face moisturizer, since 1911.

Monday, February 6, 2023

I never thought that I will be writing about this iconic and classic moisturizer, but since I found out that Nivea improved the formula, plus the fact that everybody on the internet was claiming that it was almost the perfect “dupe” of the legendary La Mer face moisturizer, my curiosity increased a lot, so I ended up buying it again, after 20 years. I remember how my mother use to buy it when I was a child, for me, my brother, and cousins, and how I use to hate it for its density, and thickness, feeling like it will never be absorbed by my skin, so when people started to hype it on internet, I couldn’t believe it, but now, I know why: the formula has changed.

From its multiple uses (body moisturizer, face moisturizer, tattoo healing cream, etc.) and benefits (deep moisturizer, emollient, wound healing, treatment sealed, etc), to all the DIY YouTube videos that have Nivea Cream as a basic ingredient, this moisturizer has been in the dresser of many men and women, since it was launched in 1911. But… is it really that good?

The new Nivea Creme formula is more rich, watery, and easy to be absorbed by the skin, leaving a thin protective layer that seals and protects the skin from the environment, being perfect for very dry skin, as a night moisturizer, even as a primer for heavy and very matt makeup foundations (in small amounts). Moreover, for the body, I love to use it mixed with other products (natural oils, and natural essential oils), turning it into one of my basic ingredients to create my own body milk, that leaves my skin very moisturized, soft, and with an enchanting aroma.

I personally think that Nivea Creme is a really nice basic moisturizer that keeps the skin protected from external aggressions, moisturized, and glowy. It does not have amazing properties, or ingredients, but the formula, and with it the product itself works very nicely as an essential moisturizer, being more a perfect complement to a complete skincare routine, or even the perfect base to create a new product.

In comparison with some more specific actual face or body moisturizers, the concept is completely different, since they have been created to treat the skin in a specific way, having sometimes a larger ingredient list, with a state-of-the-art formula, giving, as a result, better results in a shorter period of time.

NOVEMBER FINAL ROUND: SKINCARE PRODUCTS REVIEW.

JEJU YOUNG SKIN FACE TONER & ACAI BERRY FACE TONER, by Ziaja.

If you have been reading my latest posts, maybe you will notice my bittersweet relationship with Ziaja, because they use parabens in some of their products as preservatives. But I think they are changing that in their new products, because no one of this two face toners have parabens!

I have been earing of a lot of beauty content creators a lot of good things about this face toners, they are three, and I decided to buy two of them to give them a try, and I’m very happy with them, from the ingredient list and the formula to the packaging. They have nice key ingredients that refresh, treats, and plump the skin without causing any skin irritation, and even if I love both, my hearth prefers the Jeju one!

By the way, the bottles mist facilitates a better application of the products without the necessity of use a cotton pad, avoiding any product waste: spray and taps the skin, and you go!

TUTTI FRUTTI BODY MIST, by Farmona.

I’m not lying if I say that this are one of the best body mist I ever tried. They smell very good, moisturize the skin, and have amazing ingredients like Aloe Vera, Lactic Acid, Castor Oil, Ceramides, Sunflower oil, Rosemary, Glycerin, Hyaluronic Acid, and Pear juice extract.

They are orgasmic, with a 360º experience. I have tried a lot of product from Farmona, and I always end up wanting more and more and more, they really know how to create skincare products.

ALOE VERA GEL, by Holika Holika.

Korean skincare products are most of the times: AMAZING. This face and body gel is beyond to perfection! The ingredient list, the formula, the texture, and the effectiveness. It really calms and treats the skin, helping to reduce blemishes, dryness, sebum production, even illuminating the skin.

I love to apply it two to three times before sleeping, and then lock the moisture with a face oil, and in a week, you will start to see the difference, this product is amazing, even more than the Tony Moly Bamboo Shooting Gel, that is more a refreshing and calming than a treatment itself. But the Holika Holika Aloe Vera Gel it combines all the qualities of the bamboo gel, but in a more skincare way since is formulated to help heal, treat, and repairs the skin imperfections, and reactions.

FIRST SERUM, by Pretty Skin.

This face serum at first, I felt like it wasn’t doing anything to my face, but then I started to notice that my skin was smoother. It claims to repair the skin in 14 days, but to me, it just improves the skin texture. The ingredients are just Galactomyces, and the texture is very liquid, that makes difficult the serum application.

Having using it until finish the entire bottle, I personally think that there exist better products on the market that do a better job on the skin, for the same price, with a better formula and ingredient list. But if you are starting in the skincare world, is a nice point to star, and create a routine, I think that is the reason why is called “first serum”.

OIL BLEND, by TRUELOGIE.

With this product I really ask my self if Niche Lab Beauty do anything wrong. I loved this face oil so much, among with the Breylee one, this is absolutely a keeper: is not greasy, fast absorbing, it has an amazing ingredient list, locks other products moisture, it performs incredible under makeup, controls the sebum production, and balance the skin moisturizing and treating it.

The best part? It treats the skin without clogging pores, so it does not promote the formation of black heads, white heads, or any pimple, effectively helping to control the sebum production.

Q10-VITAMINE C BODY LOTION by Nivea & ANTI-AGING BODY LOTION by Anne Moller.

I love both! They are fast absorbing, and moisturize very good the skin, but if I only must choose one it will be the Anne Moller one, is my fourth bottle, and I will always have one in my dresser table. The formula is perfect: fast absorbing, refreshing, and it leaves a very light veil that protects the skin, that it won’t leaves your skin until the next shower.

PD: it leaves the skin smooth, illuminate, and with an elegant smell.

INCREDIBLE AFFORDABLE GEL SHOWER FOR SENSITIVE SKIN.

Saturday, November 20, 2021

Find new affordable skincare products is always pleasant, even more having dry-sensitive body skin. My current favorite shower gel is the one for sensitive skin by Lactacyd, which have as one of the main ingredients Acid Lactic, that condition, calm, and moisturize sensitive skin, acting at the same time as a mild skin exfoliator, price: 8,23E/bottle (1L).

Even if the price is not bad, keeping in mind the ingredient list and the formula, I really needed to find other options in the market to have more options, and discover new brands that worth the money or are a “wtf this is amazing and so affordable”. So, this is how I ended discovering this gel shower by Byphasse, that claims being ideal for dry to very dry skin, with emollient and moisturizing properties, for only 1.50E/500ml.

With this line of products, the brand claims to use only the necessary ingredients to clean and moisturize the hair and skin, not leaving it dry and itchy. The components of the ingredient list are essentials (basics), the formula and product texture just feel very clean, fresh, and comforting.

Even if is not the most moisturizing and emollient gel shower that I ever tested, I find it a really good option, that cleans the skin without drying it out, with a neutral PH, and a soft-clean fragrance.

But to me the most surprising part was discover that the product is vegan! Usually, vegan products that works well for sensitive skin can be a little bit pricy, but with this product, that general rule is broken!

KEY INGREDIENTS.

Cocamidopropyl Betaine: skin conditioner.

Sodium Chloride: help to heal and exfoliate the skin.

Propylene Glycol: smooth and hydrates the skin.

Glycerin: moisturizing, emollient, and skin softener.

Glyceryl Oleate: enhances skin elasticity penetrating in the outer layer of the skin.

Maltodextrin: moisturizing, reduce skin irritation caused by other acids, and anti-aging.

Acid Citric: unclog pores, helps to even the skin, exfoliates the skin, and target brakeouts.
